What the poll collects

• Your selected candidates and ballot options, which may reveal political opinions.
• A random browser or app identifier, stored as a SHA-256 hash with your ballot to prevent another submission using the same identifier.
• Your optional, self-reported country or territory.
• If you opt into a public pin, a broad location rounded to a 5° grid.
• A random receipt and submission time.

The poll does not ask for your name, email, phone number, date of birth, voter registration, or precise address. Precise browser geolocation is rounded before it is sent. The server rounds again before saving coordinates. Choosing a country-center pin avoids requesting device location.

What other people can see

The public results show aggregate candidate totals, country totals, country-group comparisons and coarse location clusters. Browser identifiers, receipts, and submission times are not exposed through the public results endpoint. A coarse pin can still reveal your political preference in a broad region, so pin sharing is optional. You can vote without sharing either a country or a pin.

Cookies and app storage

An HTTP-only cookie and browser storage keep your random poll identifier. The iPhone client stores its random identifier in the device Keychain. These identifiers support ballot continuity and submission limits. The web limit is per browser installation; clearing both forms of browser storage or using another browser can bypass it. The poll does not claim verified identity or one-person voting.

Native race watchlists and reports

The iPhone app saves watchlisted races locally in app preferences. These saved races are not sent as votes and are not uploaded to our server. Removing a saved race removes it from the watchlist. Local app data may be included in normal device backups. Perspective PDF reports are created locally from public aggregate comparisons and shared only when you choose the iOS share sheet. The interactive field guide uses labeled illustrative values, not participant records.

Purpose, hosting, and retention

The data is used to count this opinion poll, display results, and limit repeated submissions. It is not used for advertising, sold, or used to track you across other companies’ apps and websites. Ballots remain stored for the operation and historical results of this poll unless removed following a valid request or a future announced retention change.

The site is hosted through OpenAI Sites on Cloudflare infrastructure. Hosting providers may process network and service logs, including IP addresses, to operate and protect the service. Data may be processed in countries outside your own. Candidate portraits are served from the poll’s hosted files or the linked source’s image cache. An external image provider may receive your IP address and ordinary image-request metadata. Candidate images do not receive your ballot choices or poll identifier. Native Apple Maps features are provided by Apple and are also subject to Apple’s privacy information.

Your choices and requests

Location access and public pins are optional. Before submitting, you can change or clear any selection. Party-selection and review requests prepare your choices without saving or counting them as votes. Only the final ballot submission stores your choices. A submitted ballot is final in the interface. For a privacy question, correction, or removal request, contact adam@digiid.com and include your receipt when available. Do not send your browser identifier, device secrets, passwords, or precise location. We may need enough information to locate and verify a request without collecting unnecessary personal information.

VOTE is not affiliated with a government, election authority, political party, or candidate. A poll response does not register you to vote and does not count in any official election. Results are self-selected participant opinions, not a representative survey or forecast.
